Christchurch Football Club

Hey guys i'm back with another blog today. Today I will be talking about the Christchurch Football Club (CFC for short). I am writing about CFC because it is very interesting. CFC is the oldest rugby club in New Zealand! It was founded in 1863. It is the second oldest in the world next to Blackheath in the UK. The club played by there own rules for a couple of years, until in 1870 when rugby was introduced to NZ by Charles John Monro. The Christchurch Football club isn't just for playing rugby. In the winter when rugby is on they also have a number of CFC netball teams. They also have the Christchurch Football Squash there too. I play Netball and Squash for CFC I used to play rugby for them too.

Here are some pictures of the club:

CFC was home to a lot of All Blacks and Black Ferns. Here's the list of All Blacks that's played for this club:

  1. Hi Arihia, what a great idea for a blog! It's a pretty famous club isn't it? We often walk through there and my children ride bikes in their carpark because we live just near it. On game days we can hear people cheering from our house. I've never played rugby but I enjoy watching it on tv and like to pick the scores before they play. Do you play rugby for CFC?
